In Santos, by the National Museum of Ancient Art, As Janelas Verdes is a small palace dating from the end of the 18th century that, as well as the historic street which lends it its name, deserves to be slowly discovered, tasting its smooth, cosy and romantic environment. It is said that Eça de Queirós, a famous Portuguese writer, lived and found inspiration here to describe “O Ramalhete”, the house where his most famous novel, “Os Maias”, takes place. And the memory of his presence is still alive in the surrounding atmosphere with small objects of art, paintings, books and memories. Sunny and cheerful, the rooms breathe the peacefulness of an older Lisbon that the Heritage hotel chain has successfully restored. | |||

1. The end of the day in the Janelas Verdes terrace is something you can not miss. As the sun disappears below the horizon, thousands of small lights begin to illuminate Lisbon and the other bank of the river. Simple and dazzling.
2. With its front covered with creepers and a decentred cast iron staircase that unfolds through it, the garden is a small paradise of peace, splendour and romanticism. The perfect place to have a cup of tea at 5pm.
3. Coated with wood, noble, warm and laboured, the library invites you to read, socialize or simply to meditate and contemplate. Also take advantage of the classic telescope and take a peep at the other side of the Tagus River.
4. In My Bar, next to the Library, refresh the memories of the old Lisboa with the drinks of the present – mineral waters, cappuccino, tea, soft drinks, beer, etc. The goal is simple: “Do it yourself, feel like home…”.
1. Many scenes of “Os Maias” novel took place in this artery, attracting many fans of Eça de Queirós. And right beside the hotel you will find the National Museum of Ancient Art, considered the most important museum of Portugal, holding indispensable artistic estate.
2. Lisboa’s cosmopolitan centre of design. Here you will find some of the best decor shops in the country.
3. One of the noblest areas in Lisboa. Stroll through the beautiful 18th century houses and visit the Palace of São Bento, where the Parliament is established.
4. At Cais Rocha, take the “15” tram and visit some of the city’s most important monuments: the Belém tower and the Monastry of Jerónimos. And eat a Pastel!
5. By the bridge over the Tagus, a great place to eat or simply have a drink.
6. Lisboa’s most famous spot in terms of nightlife. Everywhere you will find bars, discos and groups of young people.
"With exquisite subtlety and attention with the little details, we strive to make our guests smile. |
